The annual Runnymede in Bloom competition is now in its 17th year and Runnymede Borough Council is encouraging residents to enter this year’s competition.
Squire’s Garden Centres are sponsoring the competition again and have generously provided the prizes of garden vouchers worth £40 for first, £20 for second and £10 for third prize winners for each category.
There are seven categories:
- allotments
- communal garden scheme
- residential front garden (including window boxes and balconies)
- business/pub garden display
- overall front and rear garden
- school garden (amateur)
- senior citizen’s front garden
Runnymede Council’s Head of Engineering, Stephen Fuggles said: “This is a great opportunity for residents to show off their gardening skills. Each year I’m always amazed at the array of flowers and plants in this competition.”
Deputy Chairman of Squire’s Garden Centres, Sarah Squire said: “We are delighted to be part of such a great community event. It gives schools, commercial organisations and individuals the opportunity to make their local area an even nicer place to live and work.”
