Appeal following ‘road rage’ incident off M25 at Chertsey

templateheaderimage11072012134248Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses following an alleged ‘road age’ incident on the slip road off the M25 junction 11 at Chertsey.

The incident occurred at around 10.15am on Saturday (27 July) on the slip road off the anti-clockwise carriageway. The driver of a black Mercedes car came off the motorway due to the road being closed between junctions 9 and 10 and stopped the vehicle at a set of green traffic lights. It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle behind him, a white Ford Transit van, has got out and verbally abused him. The van driver then reportedly punched the Mercedes driver to the right side of the mouth before kicking the driver’s door and then returning to his vehicle.

A 42-year-old man from the Hounslow area of London has been arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage in connection with this incident.

Police Constable Kapil Pindoria, investigating, said: “We have spoken to the two drivers and a passenger in one of the vehicles but it would assist the investigation to get the accounts of any independent witnesses. If you were in the area around this time and believe you may have seen any part of this incident then please call 101 quoting reference RM/13/3671. Alternatively, you can pass information anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
