Rogue Round-up!

via Surrey County Council Trading Standards: TS @lert!

· A consumer in Buckinghamshire employed a Surrey trader to re-sand and seal her driveway. The trader was paid in cash but the work is still incomplete. The trader is now not returning telephone calls and the consumer was not given cancellation rights. Always ensure you are given cancellation rights in writing and don’t pay for work until it has been completed.

· Surrey consumers are receiving “Home Safety Courtesy” calls. These will typically take the form of a telephone call and we have had reports of these activities via our Facebook page. Please keep the information coming through – it is very useful.

Please say NO to cold calling traders!

ADVICE: Do not invite them in or offer to buy products at the door as they can be very persuasive!

ATT00001 Try using Surrey County Council’s No Cold Calling Sticker to deter them and to remind yourself to say NO to doorstep callers!

Please report similar instances to us via the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 08454 04 05 06. The Police can also be contacted on 101 or in an emergency 999.
