When the Tour of Britain first came to Surrey in 2012 – with the eighth and final stage setting off from Reigate – it was Mark Cavendish who crossed the finish line first on the setts of Guildford High Street.

This year he is set to return, leading the Omega Pharma Quick-Step team, when the seventh stage of the Tour races from Epsom to Guildford on Saturday September 21.

Sir Bradley unfortunately had to bow out of the competition before the Surrey stage last year due to a stomach bug, but he has also been confirmed in this year’s provisional rider list.
