Man sentenced to 12 months for Bagshot burglary

Police VestA man was sentenced to 12 months in prison after pleading guilty to one offence of burglary when he appeared at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday (20 May).

Darren Turner, 30, from Barker Road, Chertsey was arrested on 28 February after breaking into a house in Station Road, Bagshot, around 7-15pm on 18 February. Turner gained access to the house through the front door but escaped empty-handed after he was challenged by the occupant. He then climbed over a fence and made off into the back garden of a neighbouring property leaving his bicycle behind.

A forensic examination of the bike identified Turner as a suspect for the offence and he was subsequently arrested.

He pleaded guilty to the burglary when he appeared at Guildford Crown Court on 12 May and was remanded in custody.
