In an interview with this great entrepreneur in the Observer newspaper, Richard Branson explained how Virgin Airlines came about.
He tells the story of how, in his twenties, his flight from Puerto Rico to the Virgin Islands was cancelled by the airline because there weren’t enough passengers. He immediately looked for a charter company, chartered a plane. He then borrowed a blackboard and displayed a sign stating: Virgin Airlines, $39 to BVI (British Virgin Islands).
